The CLaCS technique comprises of the combination of different technologies like sclerotherapy, augmented reality, laser and skin cooling used for anesthesia.
A special device is used that images veins nearly to 1.0 centimeter underneath the skin with infrared sensing to get augmented reality. The image later is sent back to the skin in actual time. It helps Dr. Ravul Jindal to view feeder veins which cannot be seen with the special imaging device.
Later the feeder veins are treated using a transdermal laser that sends out heat injury to veins. Due to the laser beams’ wavelength, the energy absorbed by blood is more than absorbed by the skin.
This helps cautious damage to vein (photothermolysis) causing no damage to the skin. After the laser beams attack the feeder veins, are later injected using a chemical sclerosant. Now again with special imaging devices, the images are seen to know about the sclerotherapy injections.
The entire process is carried out with cryo unit which yields a non-stop movement of cold air to application areas of transdermal laser & sclerotherapy injections. The skin cooling helps bring in numbness to the skin surface during the treatment.
What does ClaCS comprises of?
4 essential components of ClaCS are
• COOLING OF THE SKIN
• AUGMENTED REALITY
• TRANSDERMAL LASER
• INJECTION OF THE FEEDER VEINS AND SPIDER VEINS using a chemical sclerosant (sclerotherapy)
What is the time taken to complete the CLaCS treatment?
It depends on the severity of the spider veins and on the preference of the patient for the areas he/she needs treatment for.
Generally, normal CLaCS treatment continues for one hour. In case the patient having a plenty of spider vein clusters wants to get all clusters treated in just a single session then it may take extra time than normal session.
What would be the results like?
You can get to see nearly 70% of veins disappear post the very 1st ClaCS session. In some cases even all of them disappear.
How does it appear later?
In the first 2 weeks you will see the veins to be little darker. Once the veins start disappearing you can see the normal colour of your skin returning.
Do I need to use support stockings?
No. You don’t need to use support stockings post CLaCs treatment.
Are there any restrictions post the procedure?
No there are absolutely no restrictions post-treatment. You can get back to your normal activities. You can also engage in exercise.
What are the things I need to avoid using post or pre CLaCS treatment?
You should not use any agents meant for artificial skin-tanning at least two weeks before CLaCS. Post ClaCS there are no restrictions.
How blood actually transfer to post the closure of veins?
The blood takes a different route to more healthy veins to post the spider and feed veins are removed. There is often still circulation of blood in such veins which results in uneasiness. Thus patients opt to remove these veins to improve the blood circulation.
